Collection: Daniel Mortimer Skinner

Daniel Skinner’s bold linocuts inspired by natural and architectural landmarks use a strong colour palette and graphic edge to create very personal art works.Based in Brighton, Daniel experiments with different types of printmaking, focusing recently on lino and woodcut relief prints. His series of prints of iconic/controversial Brighton landmarks were captured in a new way of working for Daniel, combining different lino pieces in new ways to create a kind of print collage.

Growing up in Brighton these buildings, despite often being despised and considered ugly, are a part of his childhood and so are essentially a part of his story, which he tries to reflect in his prints. He is inspired by artists that express the magic and mystery of the English landscape, such as Blake, Samuel Palmer, and Paul Nash.Daniel has exhibited at numerous solo and group exhibitions, in London, Newcastle, Japan and The US, and his work is held by a number of institutions.
